Phil Rapa
Creative Music Coordinator
Phil Rapa grew up playing piano and honing his musical craft while touring domestically and overseas with the Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Boys Choir, as well as through performing in local music theatre both on stage and in the orchestra. He later studied contemporary and jazz composition, classical piano, and sound design at DePaul University, graduating summa cum laude.
Phil's post-grad internships and work with Encompass have provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the full scoring process. Phil completed several internship periods at Kraft-Engel Management, an industry leader in film scoring representation. He subsequently has worked in support of award-winning composers Heitor Pereira, Bear McCreary, and David Newman.
Phil joined Encompass in 2020. While working in vocal contracting, Phil helped coordinate music for the industry's biggest projects. Notable projects include assisting to assemble the boyband for Pixar's Turning Red, working alongside Blizzard Entertainment for vocal sessions on Hearthstone, and handling choir session coordination on Baz Luhrmann's Elvis and Lucasfilm's The Book of Boba Fett. Phil joined Encompass Creative in 2022, and has since contributed to music arrangements for studio films and major streaming shows.
Phil is also an active piano player, having taken lessons in classical and popular styles since age 5. He recently contributed synth programming to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and played keyboard for The Lion King Live-to-Film Concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
As a film composer, Phil has scored projects played at film festivals around the world. He lives in Encino, CA with his wife, son, and two cats.
